Remo Stars and Ghana's Medeama SC trade words ahead CAF Champions League clash

Nigeria's Remo Stars and Ghanaian champions Medeama SC have started a war of words ahead of their battle in the CAF Champions League, CAFCC.

NPFL side Remo Stars SC and their Ghanaian counterparts Medeama SC have set the tempo for their imminent clash in the CAF Champions League, CAFCL.

Remo and Medeama have kicked off preparation for the clash with a classic war of words on social media.

Both clubs have been drawn against each other in the preliminary rounds of the CAFCL next season.

In what will be a historic campaign for the Nigerian side, Remo sealed a place in the Champions League after a brilliant run in the NPFL.

The Sky Blues finished second place in the NPFL Super 6 playoffs behind champions Enyimba, who lifted the title for the ninth time in their history.

For Medeama, their journey to the lucrative continent showpiece came after they defeated all comers to be crowned champions of the Ghana Premier League.

CAFCL draw

The 2023/2024 CAF club competitions will officially kick off next month after the draws were held on Tuesday by CAF.

CAF held the draw at their headquarters in Cairo, with Nigeria’s representatives, Enyimba and Remo Stars involved.

While the champions Enyimba were drawn against Northern opposition, Remo Stars got Ghanaian champions Medeama.

Following the draw, both clubs have now built anticipation for the head-to-head battle.

It was Ghana’s champions who took to their Twitter account to start what has since turned into a war of words from both sets of fans.

“Wahala for who no sabi o! The time don reach to scatter ground as @RemoStarsSC of Naija land for our home for Ghana! in the @CAFCLCC E go loud, e go hot! Na our turf and we go show them the true Ghanaian football flair,” Medeama posted on Twitter.

Medeama SC have been in celebration mood and can't wait for the CAFCL.

Remo’s reply was swift and threatening as well.

“Chale, person weh say him mama no go sleep, him sef no go close eye Oya na! We pin! We dey come!,” Remo quoted Medeama’s Tweet.

Medeama will host Remo Stars in the first leg slated for 18 to 20th August before the Sky Blues welcome the Ghanaians to their home in Ikenne a week later.
