Gor Mahia interim coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has revealed what his charges must do to finish the season on a high after ceding the FKF Premier League title to Kenya Police, who were crowned champions on Sunday afternoon.
The former Harambee Stars tactician has been in charge of the side on two separate occasions this season, during which the club also hired two foreign managers -namely Brazilian Leo Neiva and Croat Sinisa Mihic - but they were unable to last very long at the club.
Speaking to the media following their 1-1 draw with Police at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Otieno revealed what led to their disastrous campaign.

“They've won, so we congratulate them,” Otieno said, first paying homage to the Etienne Ndayiragije-coached side.
“Everyone had an equal chance to be champions—the games all started at 0-0. Now that we’re past matchday 34, it’s clear they were consistent throughout the season.”
Otieno has blamed that lack of consistency for the league loss in the end.
“Unlike us, we lacked that level of consistency, and in football, that’s crucial. Consistency in performance is what makes the difference.”

The side will be facing Nairobi United at the Afraha Stadium on the final day of the 2024/2025 domestic campaign.
Otieno has revealed what his charges must do to clinch silverware and secure themselves a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
“It’s a final, and a final is always a must-win situation. For us, nothing changes—we’ll stay focused, try to play well, minimize mistakes, and hopefully win the tournament on Sunday.”
