Kahata, who has been at Kenya Police since 2022, has explained what helped the club dethrone his former employers Gor Mahia to lift the title.
Kenya Police FC midfielder Francis Kahata has credited years of hard work, team spirit, and long-term planning as the key ingredients behind their historic FKF Premier League triumph.
The Law Enforcers were officially crowned champions on Sunday afternoon following a 1-1 draw with Gor Mahia, Kahata’s former club.

Harambee Stars forward Michael Olunga is close to joining a new club after exiting Al Duhail in May.
The Foundation Was Set Early

Although Kahata’s role on the pitch diminished as the season progressed—largely due to the rise of midfield dynamo Marvine Nabwire—the veteran playmaker still played a vital part off the field, drawing on his vast experience that includes three league titles won during his time at Gor Mahia.
Speaking exclusively to Pulse Sports following their win, Kahata was adamant the title win had been a long time coming considering the level of investment the club’s management made into the playing unit to make the team the cream of the crop.
“We started laying the building blocks from the moment Kenya Police won promotion back to the topflight, and now we are reaping the fruit,” Kahata reflected.
“We wanted to win the league from the beginning, and now that we have achieved it, we are very grateful to the fans and everyone else who supported us.”

Rising from the Bottom

Kahata was candid about the challenges the team faced throughout the campaign. By November, the team was lying perilously close to relegation after recording bad results in their first five games of the season.
“This league was not easy. We started at the bottom, but our hard work helped us turn things around. That’s how football is—you’re down sometimes, and up sometimes.”
A Statement of Intent
Kenya Police’s title win signals a new era for the club, and Kahata believes the team is only getting started.
“We’ve announced that Kenya Police are here. We must now prepare early. It won’t be easy, but I know we’ll put up a good fight.”
Looking ahead to the CAF Champions League, the midfielder expressed optimism based on their recent continental experience.
They nearly made the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup after giving Zamalek a proper run for their money but lost 3-1 on aggregate.
Kahata believes that experience gained, added to their vast international pedigree within the squad will help them out big time.

7 Biggest Ballon d'Or Snubs of All Time
The Ballon d'Or has a contentious history marked by numerous controversial decisions where deserving players, like Thierry Henry and Andres Iniesta, were arguably snubbed.
“Our fans should expect us to improve even more. In the Confederation Cup last season, we gave it our all, and with that experience, we’ll fight to do even better next year.”
Kahata closed by emphasising the unity in the squad as a driving force behind their success.
“We have played as a team and forged a great camaraderie, which has made us fight hard together.”
As Kenya Police FC basks in the glory of their maiden FKF Premier League title, Francis Kahata’s words serve as a reminder that success is rarely accidental—it is built on vision, patience, and collective effort.
With a solid foundation, a talented squad, and growing continental experience, the Law Enforcers are not just content with local dominance. They are now setting their sights on conquering Africa.
For Kahata and his teammates, the journey doesn’t end with lifting the trophy—it’s only the beginning of what they hope will be a sustained era of success for one of Kenya’s fastest-rising football clubs.
