Posta Rangers coach has expressed disappointment after FC Talanta ended unbeaten streak

Posta Rangers coach John Kamau expressed his disappointment following his team's unexpected 3-1 defeat to FC Talanta in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League clash.

The mailmen, who were on a quest for their sixth consecutive victory in the league after a convincing 2-0 win over Nzoia Sugar at home nearly two weeks ago, found themselves outplayed by a determined FC Talanta side.

Kamau, whose team made two changes from their previous match against the sugar millers, expressed his candid assessment of the game.

"We did not deserve a win. If you look at the first, second, and third goals we conceded, they all stemmed from our own mistakes. The opponent played his heart out, and congratulations to him," he said.

The match, held at the Ruaraka grounds, got off to an electrifying start as Alfred Emoni capitalised on Rangers goalkeeper Samuel Njau's mistake, slotting home the opener for Talanta just five minutes into the game.

The pressure continued to mount on the mailmen as Alex Juma converted a penalty after being brought down by Kennedy Odhiambo, doubling Talanta's lead.

However, Dinken Mwema provided a glimmer of hope for John Kamau's side when he rose high to head home Titus Achesa's free-kick in the 42nd minute, bringing the score to 2-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Posta displayed remarkable determination, launching numerous attempts to level the match. Yet, it was Talanta's Tanui who ultimately sealed the deal, securing a 3-1 victory against the league leaders.

"It is a good check on how we move from this point. It was one bad day at the office, and we did not expect to go unbeaten, but what is important is how we correct ourselves. We have lost to a better team," Kamau emphasised the importance of learning from the setback.

This defeat marks a significant turning point for FC Talanta, not only ending Posta Rangers' unbeaten run but also marking their first-ever victory against the league leaders.
