The season-defining Gor Mahia vs Ulinzi Stars match started at 3 pm at the Ulinzi Sports Complex. In the second minute of the match, it was clear that Gor Mahia were out to make a statement as they had already taken control of the game.

Their efforts paid off well in the early stages of the match with an early lead in the 10th minute through Samuel Kappen.

They continued controlling the game, with Alphonce Omija passing the ball smoothly to Ernest Wendo, who made a nice pass to Sylvester Owino down to the left wing. At the moment, Ulinzi players were seeing flames.

However, their dominance did not last long as Ulinzi Stars pulled an equaliser through Yakeen Mutheli in the 22nd minute. However, the Ulinzi Stars’ goal did not come easily as one player was shown a yellow card in the 24th minute.

That did not deter the soldiers from controlling the game until the 38th minute when Gor Mahia turned up through Austin Odhiambo, but that did not yield a goal as the ball just hit the goal post.

Gor Mahia continued dominating the match with 10 minutes to go, with Ulinzi Stars fighting hard to penetrate their defence and equalise. In the 86th minute, Lawrence Juma went in for Benson Omala. The result remained unchanged until full-time.
