Arsenal have responded after Viktor Gyokeres rejected a move to Manchester United.

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a second offer for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, who appears to have ruled out a move to Manchester United.

Arsenal and Manchester United have been heavily linked with the 27-year-old Swedish international following his impressive goal-scoring season, which propelled Sporting to another league title.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United are seeking to bolster their attacking options. Arsenal are believed to be considering both Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.

Viktor Gyokeres rejecting Manchester United has opened the door for Arsenal, who are now reportedly readying a second bid for the striker.

Sporting are believed to have already rejected an initial offer from the Gunners, holding out for a fee of at least €70 million (£59.2 million).

It remains unclear whether Arsenal will indeed submit another offer for Viktor Gyokeres, especially given their interest in Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian striker, like Gyokeres, is expected to attract numerous offers this summer and has already held talks with Arsenal.

Gyokeres has an £85 million release clause in his contract, though previous reports suggested Sporting might accept £59 million. However, Sporting's president, Frederico Varandas, recently refuted these claims.

In a Wednesday press conference, he stated, "I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for €60 million plus €10 million because I never promised that. To this day, Sporting has not had an offer for Gyokeres—neither today nor last season.”

Varandas further emphasised his stance, adding that Sporting would not demand the release clause but insisted that those involved should know him better by now; threats, blackmail, and insults did not work with him.

He guaranteed that Viktor Gyokeres would not leave for €60 million plus €10 million, stating that he had never allowed it and that, with the game the agent was playing, the situation would only worsen.
