The Harambee Stars defender joined the Zambian side at the start of 2021.

Zambia Super League side Napsa Stars will make a call on Kenyan defender David 'Calabar' Odhiambo’s future when he joins the club for pre-season.

The Zambian side has a few players who could leave permanently or go out on loan next season, and one player who could be looking for more game time is the former Gor Mahia defender.

The center-back's chances of playing regularly next season are quite low, and it was evident this season as he was completely wrecked by a serious knee injury which saw him slip down the pecking order.

The 35-year-old defender joined Napsa Stars in 2021 on a two-year deal after parting ways with another Zambian side Zesco United.

“Odhiambo has a running contract with the club which he is still serving,” Naspa Stars media officer Gee Chipasula told Pulse Sports.

Odhiambo was recently spotted outside the club’s camp, which raised questions about his future at the Pensioners, who are set to face Prison Leopards in their last match of the season on Saturday.

“Currently he is on leave with other foreign players who have been excused from the last league match to visit their families before the team regroups for the 2023/24 season,” she added.

Odhiambo previously turned out for Gor Mahia before moving to Zambia, where he joined Zesco, a club he signed for in 2015 and became a key part of the side that won the 2017, 2018, and 2019 league titles.

His last season at Zesco was complicated due to what Zambian media reported to be serious complications following an Achilles injury that, at one point, could have led to the end of his career.
