Beckham’s commitment to public service has continued into recent years. In 2024, he became an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, which supports educational efforts and encourages young people to connect with nature.

Beckham was first nominated for a knighthood in 2011, the journey has not been without its controversies.

In 2017, British newspapers published leaked emails in which Beckham allegedly criticised the honours system and its committee.

At the time, his spokesperson said the emails were “hacked”, “doctored” and “private.”

In addition to his ambassadorial and philanthropic efforts, Beckham continues to make his mark in the footballing world as co-owner of League Two club Salford City and as president and co-owner of Major League Soccer team Inter Miami in the United States.

Through the Inter Miami CF Foundation, he has supported community outreach efforts aimed at empowering underserved communities via the power of sport.
