Kusaba became the first Asian player in recent history to score a goal in the FKF Premier League against Murang'a Seal.

Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti has encouraged Japanese striker Yuto Kusaba to build on his confidence following his first league goal and aim for more goals in the remaining matches of the campaign.

Kusaba marked a memorable moment last weekend by opening his goal account in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League against Murang’a Seal at the Police Sacco Grounds.

The forward, who came on in the second half, converted from the penalty spot after Seal captain Peter Mwaura fouled Newton Ochieng in the area. Muyoti praised Kusaba's well-taken penalty and urged him to continue his goal-scoring form.

Kusaba joined Nairobi City Stars during the off-season transfer window but faced administrative delays that prevented him from featuring in the first leg of the season. After securing clearance in the mid-season transfer window, he made his league debut against Shabana in February.

Expressing his delight for Kusaba, Muyoti said, “I am happy for him. He had been waiting for it, and I think it will improve his confidence and his goal-scoring instincts.”

Reflecting on his debut against Shabana, Kusaba spoke about his excitement in finally playing at this level and gaining valuable experience.

“It felt nice to finally play at this level as I had been waiting for this opportunity,” he shared with the club's media channels. “The Shabana game was competitive and gave me an idea of what I need to do to approach the upcoming games.

"I hope to build upon this first game and get City Stars back to winning ways.”

With Kusaba's confidence boosted by his first league goal, Nairobi City Stars will be hoping he can continue to contribute to their campaign and help the team secure positive results in their upcoming matches.
