Sofapaka coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno has opted see the silver lining despite his side's heavy drubbing to Kenya Police in the quater finals of the FKF Cup.

Sofapaka head coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno has chosen to focus on the positives following his team's 4-0 defeat to Kenya Police in the quarter-finals of the 2023/2024 FKF Cup held at Dandora Stadium on Saturday, April 27.

Despite the loss, which saw Samuel Onyango netting a brace alongside goals from David Okoth and Marvin Nabwire, Sofapaka faced challenges with a depleted squad, forced to field midfielders Roy Okal and Sunday Ikhekhai in central defense due to the absence of key players.

"We had a very good game plan but it is very difficult when you are playing against a team like Police with all that quality and then you keep making basic mistakes," remarked Zico in the aftermath of the match.

"We were losing the ball in our own half, which should not happen when playing such a tough and experienced side."

Acknowledging the tough opposition, Zico emphasized the importance of learning from the experience and focusing on upcoming league matches. Despite the disappointment, he urged his players to maintain concentration and understand the significance of every moment on the field.

"The players need to concentrate and know every moment counts in the game. Not just in moments," he emphasized.

"We are trying and growing in each and every match. These are positives we will take from here and then move on."

Currently positioned 15th with 28 points after 27 games, Sofapaka faces the challenge of regaining momentum in the league as they strive for improved performance in the remaining fixtures of the season.

Despite the setback in the FKF Cup, Zico remains optimistic about the team's growth and development, focusing on the lessons learned from the match as they aim to bounce back stronger in the league campaign.
