Festus Chuma 10:30 - 19.11.2023

High-stakes Sunday in the National Super League as Mathare United clashes with Kajiado, while Mara Sugar takes on MCF in thrilling fixtures.

The National Super League promises an action-packed Sunday with seven thrilling fixtures set to ignite stadiums across the country.

One of the most anticipated clashes of the day sees Mathare United embarking on a journey to Ildamat, where they will lock horns with Kajiado FC in what promises to be a highly explosive encounter.

Mathare United enters this showdown with momentum, having secured impressive victories in their last two fixtures - a 2-0 win over Nairobi United and a 1-0 triumph against MCF.

The Slum Boys head coach Leonard Odipo has been pleased with the progress his team has shown in their maiden season in the National Super League, following relegation from the FKF Premier League.

Odipo commented on their recent performances, saying, "We scored beautiful goals (against Nairobi United) at training grounds (Ruaraka). It shows players are really developing and are getting into what we are training, and we are really happy ahead of the next match."

On the other side of the pitch, Kajiado FC is coming off a narrow 1-0 defeat to Darajani Gogo in their previous away fixture but had previously secured a convincing 2-0 win over Rainbow FC.

Currently placed sixth on the table with 14 points, a victory against Mathare United would propel them to fourth place and significantly boost their standings.

In another captivating matchup, Mara Sugar will face off against MCF at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Mara Sugar enters the game fresh off a thrilling 3-2 victory, marking the successful debut of coach Vincent Nyaberi. Currently positioned fourth in the league, they will aim to consolidate their position.

Meanwhile, MCF finds themselves at the bottom of the league table with just seven points from nine matches.

With their backs against the wall, MCF will be eager to pull off an upset and move up the standings.

Mara Sugar will have the services of midfielders Robert Obaga and David Owino, who have recovered from chest injuries, and Joseph Okwenda, who is back in action after a full recovery from an ankle injury.

Elsewhere on the pitch, SS Assad is set to welcome Darajani Gogo at the Ukunda Showgrounds.

Assad will be looking to bounce back from a heavy 3-1 defeat suffered at the hands of Migori Youth in their last outing.

At Mumboha Stadium, fifth-placed Luanda Villa will clash with seventh-placed Nairobi United in a battle of the debutants.

Both teams will be eager to secure maximum points, with Nairobi United looking to recover from their recent 2-0 defeat to Mathare United.

Mombasa Elite will entertain Migori Youth at the Mbaraki Sports Complex, with Elite seeking to return to winning ways after a 3-2 loss to Mara Sugar in their last match. Migori Youth, on the other hand, will be hunting for their fourth win of the season after beating SS Assad 3-1 last Sunday.

Migori's  assistant coach, Samuel Owano, exuded confidence about their upcoming match against Mombasa Elite. "The boys worked as per instructions in our past match. I trust that if we continue like this, we will perform better as the league goes on. In the next game, which will be away, we will stick to our plans. We will be focusing on improving our defense since our striking force is now working," said Samuel Owano, the assistant coach of Migori Youth.

At Mumias Complex, Mulembe United has a date with Mombasa Stars, promising yet another exciting contest on the Super League Sunday.

Finally, at Vapor Grounds in Ngong, the nineteenth-placed Vihiga Bullets will be determined to end their three-match winless streak as they face Kibera Black Stars, who have had a poor start to the season.
