The Slum Boys fight to avoid relegation was dealt a big blow on Sunday after losing 1-0 to Kakamega Homeboyz.

Mathare United head coach Collins Korea Omondi is seeking divine intervention to beat relegation with two matches left to play till the end of the season.

The Slum Boys lost 1-0 to Abana Abeingo at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) encounter.

The defeat left Mathare staring at the jaws of relegation, and they are currently the favourites for the dreaded drop after fellow relegation candidates Wazito won their weekend game.

A disappointed Korea said they could have done better with some chances during the match against Homeboyz.

"We were comprehensively beaten in the midfield and that puts massive pressure on our forward line. I tried to correct that and made two changes in the second half, and our midfield stabilized slightly.," he said.

"To win games in football, you've got to win the ball. I thought defensively we were reasonably sound … our midfield just didn't get the footy."

Despite appearing calm in the face of the challenge ahead for his team, Korea is also concerned about his strikers' lack of punch.

"We have been playing well in the past matches but you will find that we have not been scoring and this is a song that I have been singing every time to my players," he added.

The experienced gaffer confessed that he is looking up in the skies for the remaining two games as he has done all the team needs, and now the other part remains to the players.

"The position that we are in right now is not good and I just leave it to God to help us," he concluded.
