Mara Sugar FC have appointed a renowned coach, aiming for the NSL title and FKF Premier League promotion.

National Super League (NSL) side Mara Sugar FC has made a significant move by appointing Benedict Wanjala as their new head coach.

This strategic decision comes after the departure of Vincent Nyaberi, who left to join Mully Children’s Family.

The appointment marks a new chapter for Mara Sugar, aiming to bolster their performance and ascend to the top of the league.

Wanjala inherits a squad in good standing, currently third in the league with 27 points from 14 matches, just six points behind the leaders, Naivas FC.

The new gaffer's appointment was confirmed by Thomas Mboya, Mara Sugar’s Team Manager, who expressed his confidence in Wanjala’s ability to lead the team to greater heights.

"Yes, we have appointed Wanjala as the new head coach, and he is coming to give us the much-needed beef up and help," Mboya told Pulse Sports.

Wanjala’s primary objective is clear: to steer Mara Sugar to win the National Super League title and secure a spot in the coveted FKF Premier League.

His track record suggests that he is more than capable of achieving this goal.

Previously, he had a successful stint with Administration Police Services (APS) Bomet FC, where his exemplary leadership earned him the title of National Super League Coach of the Year for the 2020/2021 season.

After his tenure at APS Bomet, Wanjala continued to build his coaching portfolio with Mombasa Elite, a club competing in the second tier.

His experience and achievements in these roles have made him a respected figure in the football coaching community, and his appointment has been met with optimism by Mara Sugar fans.

Wanjala’s first test as head coach will be a challenging clash against Luanda Villa at Awendo Green Stadium this Saturday.
