Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is set to make a quick return from an ankle injury after being stretched off against Reading in the FA Cup.

Erik Ten Hag, who confirmed Christian Eriksen has resumed full training, predicts the Manchester United star will make an early recovery from his injury. Since joining Manchester United in the summer of last year, the Danish international has been a crucial member of the team.

But, a serious ankle injury sustained during January's FA Cup match with Reading gave the United boss a lot of trouble; his quick recovery will be a huge relief for him.

Eriksen expected to resume full training soon

Due to the Danish midfielder's injury, which kept him out until late April or early May, United decided to make a late move in the January transfer window to recruit Marcel Sabitzer, an Austrian, on loan from Bayern Munich.

Eriksen has made great progress and is getting closer to a quick return. When asked if Eriksen will be able to play in Wednesday's match against Brentford, Ten Hag told reporters, “Not for [Wednesday] but he’s returning on the pitch.

“He’s returning into team training [on Tuesday], so we have to see how quick he can now make the progress.”

Ten Hag says Eriksen’s injury has left a big void in United’s midfield

As a result of his absence and Casemiro's absence, who is currently serving the third game of a four-game suspension, things may soon be looking good for the Dutchman.

Still speaking, Ten Hag said, “Two quality players. You know, the midfield department, games will be decided always in the midfield.

“So, when you miss two quality players, it’s clear but you have a squad and when you don’t have them you still have to win.”

In the fight for Champions League qualification, United will be seeking to recover from Sunday's 2-0 loss at Newcastle.

Meanwhile, in other stories, Ten Hag speaks about his team's current form acknowledges the importance of the Brazilian, but says the team have to find ways to win games.
