Neville has branded Manchester United as a graveyard for talent.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has called for a big overhaul of the playing squad at Old Trafford, suggesting that up to ten players need to be sold this summer.

Speaking on the Overlap Fan Debate, Neville didn't hold back in his assessment of the club's recent recruitment and the overall environment for players.

Neville stated that while three or four players will depart due to expiring contracts, the club needs to actively move on a further "five or six" players, even if it means subsidising their wages to facilitate exits.

"I genuinely believe it's been a graveyard for every player that's joined that club in the last 10 years apart from Bruno [Fernandes]," Neville asserted.

He continued, "There's not one player joined that club that's improved apart from him. The rest of them, whether you go back to [Angel] Di Maria and [Bastian] Schweinsteiger, every player that's signed has gone backwards."

Neville's damning verdict highlights the widespread issues that have plagued Manchester United's transfer strategy and player management in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

He believes a substantial clear-out is necessary to pave the way for a much-needed rebuild.

Interestingly, despite their struggles in the Premier League, where they currently sit in 16th place, Manchester United have reached the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur next week.

Victory in that final would not only secure silverware but also guarantee Champions League qualification, potentially boosting their financial capacity in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are scheduled to play Chelsea in a Premier League fixture on Friday before their European final in Bilbao next Wednesday.
