Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has weighed in on the future of Victor Osimhen, naming four top European clubs that the in-demand striker can thrive at.

Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has singled out a number of European teams that Victor Osimhen can play for as he looks to sort out his future.

Osimhen is looking for a new club after his hugely successful one-year loan spell at Turkish giants Galatasaray where he scored 37 goals in 41 matches to win the league and cup double.

The striker is set to return to Serie A club Napoli but he is not wanted by coach Antonio Conte with the Italian club looking to cash in amid interest from a number of European sides as well as Saudi club Al-Hilal.

Chelsea are among clubs that have been linked with an interest as they look to strengthen their attack and Chelle has named a number of European teams he feels would benefit from Osimhen’s talents while explaining why he did not call him to his squad for the Super Eagles’ friendly against Russia on June 6.

Chelle Names Clubs That Should Queue Up for Osimhen

Victor Osimhen was named Most Valuable Player in the Turkish league.

"Victor is, for me, the best striker in the world. For him it is difficult to come for this game because he played a season with a lot of pressure,” Chelle told the BBC.

"The reality is there is a transfer window. During this time, a player like him is not focused at 100%. I need to protect him physically and mentally, because maybe he will go [and get a transfer move].

"Maybe a club like Manchester United. Or maybe Chelsea, Barcelona or Real Madrid. So, he needs to be focused on that,” said the former Mali coach while justifying the exclusion of Osimhen from the national team.

Osimhen’s situation is being monitored by several clubs but his wage demands are proving a stumbling block to teams in Europe as for he is reportedly asking for €20 million per season on a five-year contract.

Chelsea have reportedly turned their attention to Ipswich forward Liam Delap while clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona do not have the funds to pay such a huge salary.
