Kenyan referee Lucy Juma will be officiating at the upcoming All African Games in Ghana this March.

Kenyan referee Lucy Juma has been named as one of 24 center referees that will be officiating at the upcoming African Games set to take place in Accra, Ghana from Friday 8 to Saturday 23 March.

Juma, who was named the second-best referee of the 2020/2021 National Super League (NSL) season, has been officiating in both the Kenyan men's and women’s top flight for the last two years and has created a reputation for being fair.

Juma was named in the 2023 FIFA Refereeing International List, getting the green light to be selected to handle international matches going forward as guided by FIFA.

Juma also refereed at the CAF Women's Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers last August and getting the chance to referee at the African games will continue boosting her reputation.

She is the only Kenyan representative in a list of 48 officials.

A total of nine (9) teams in the men’s division and eight (8) from the women’s will compete in the competition.

This will be the 13th edition of the multi-sport continental event which dates back to 1965 when Congo hosted the maiden edition.

Conducted on the sidelines of the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 by CAF Legends, Amanda Dlamini and Emmanuel Eboue, the draw produced some interesting outcomes in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

In the women’s division, Group A sees hosts Ghana being grouped with Tanzania and Ethiopia as well as rising force Uganda.

In Group B, Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Morocco will contest for the top two finishes to advance further.

For the men’s category, host Ghana will be joined by debutants, The Gambia, Benin and Congo who won the inaugural edition in Group A.

For Group B, Nigeria, South Sudan, Senegal, Uganda and Tunisia will battle each other in a very competitive group.
