Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has expressed a desire to join Man United over other clubs but his salary demands might prove too much for the cash-strapped Red Devils.

Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly seeking a weekly wage of £250,000 if he joins Manchester United this summer.

The 25-year-old forward, coming off a stellar season with 20 goals and eight assists, has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.

Mbeumo has been a key player for Brentford since joining in 2019 and his impressive 2024-25 season helped the Bees secure a 10th-place finish in the Premier League.

Reports indicate that Manchester United are preparing to formally approach Brentford regarding Mbeumo, who has expressed his preference for a move to Old Trafford.

Despite interest from Newcastle United, Tottenham, and Arsenal, Mbeumo has reportedly informed United of his desire to join their ranks and be a part of manager Ruben Amorim's rebuilding project.

Currently earning around £50,000 a week, Mbeumo is reportedly aiming for a significant pay raise if the transfer goes through. While this figure has been quoted to interested clubs, it remains uncertain whether Manchester United will meet his demands.

Manchester United are looking to offload high-earning players Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, potentially freeing up significant funds within their wage bill. However, meeting Mbeumo's demands would place him among the club's top earners.

Mbeumo has one year remaining on his current contract with Brentford, with the club holding an option for a one-year extension.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank acknowledged in May the possibility of Mbeumo's departure if a suitable offer is received, highlighting the difficulty of replacing such a key player.

Thomas Frank (right) is worried of losing Bryan Mbeumo but hopes for a big-money transfer.

“If he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount. It is a lot. Mucho. Really a lot. Then it is clear that it is impossible to replace him one for one. It cannot be done,” Frank said as quoted by Dailymail.

“There is a reason why he costs x number of million pounds, and we do not have x number of million pounds to buy for. I would say that I would be surprised if a lot of big clubs don’t look at him. I would be surprised with what he has to offer.”

Since joining Brentford from Troyes in 2019, Mbeumo has been instrumental in the club's success, including their promotion to the Premier League in 2021.

He has consistently performed at a high level, particularly in the past year, playing every minute of Brentford's 2024-25 Premier League campaign. Overall, he has contributed 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 appearances for the West London club.

Mbeumo's potential arrival would be another significant addition for Ruben Amorim, following the recent £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves. Like Mbeumo, Cunha had an outstanding Premier League season, recording 15 goals and six assists in 33 league appearances.
