Nabea and Ahmedqadar have described the delegates' decision to hold a press conference as a tactic to divert attention from critical issues amidst the whole Hussein Mohammed saga.

Two Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Executive Committee (NEC) members have slammed  the emergency press briefing held by FKF delegates on Friday morning at the Sportview Hotel in Nairobi.

Murithi Nabea and Dabar Ahmedqadar, representing the Eastern and North Eastern regions respectively, have voiced their support for Murang’a Seal in their bid to send Vice Chairman Hussein Mohammed to the FKF Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for Saturday.

In a press release distributed to media outlets on Friday evening, Nabea and Ahmedqadar described the emergency press conference as a tactic to divert attention from critical issues such as the mismanagement of COVID funds, the FIFA for School balls program, and the hosting of CHAN in 2024.

"When we learned of the emergency press conference, we expected discussions on vital matters like the mismanagement of COVID funds, the FIFA for school balls program, and the hosting of CHAN in 2024,” the statement reads.

“These are urgent issues that require transparency and accountability.

"As duly elected representatives of the Football Kenya Federation from the North Eastern and Eastern regions, we unequivocally condemn this attempt to sidestep pressing matters."

The duo, known for their scrutiny of the football governing body's operations in the country, emphasized that it is the inherent right of clubs to select their representatives for events such as the AGM, as outlined in the FKF constitution.

“The FKF Constitution serves as the bedrock of our organization, outlining clear guidelines and regulations for the conduct of meetings, including the AGM.

“It is abundantly clear that clubs possess the fundamental right to choose their representatives for such gatherings, a principle enshrined in our constitution.”

“The attempt to disallow Murang’a SEAL FC from sending Vice Chairman Hussein Mohammed as their representative flagrantly disregards this constitutional provision.

“Any assertion that Mr. Mohammed's attendance is "ineligible" is baseless and lacks merit, particularly when it comes from individuals whose authority does not extend to dictating clubs' choices of representation.”

“We stand in solidarity with Murang’a SEAL FC and any other club exercising their rights under the FKF Constitution. We must uphold the integrity of our organization by respecting its founding principles and ensuring that all members are treated fairly and under established rules.”

Nabea and Ahmedqadar urge football stakeholders to uphold the spirit of unity and cooperation as they navigate the crucial discussions and decisions set to take place on Saturday during the AGM.

“We urge all members of the Football Kenya Federation to uphold the spirit of unity and cooperation as we navigate the crucial discussions and decisions set to take place at the upcoming AGM.

“Let us honor the principles of transparency, inclusivity, and respect for the rule of law, which are paramount to the continued progress and success of our beloved sport,” concluded the statement.
