Kenyan defender Nicodemus "Mariga"  Onyango made his debut for Taiwanese side Leopard Cat as they clinched a 2-0 victory over Hang Yuen.

The former Kibera Black Stars defender moved to the Taiwan Football Premier League side in April but failed to beat the competition to get first-team playing time under his belt.

But on Thursday morning, when Leopard Cat took Hang Yuen in match day four, Onyango was on the starting eleven and was handed the usual center-back playing role.

It would turn out to be a night to remember for the defender, who donned his usual jersey number 6.

His power at the backline was something that his opponents struggled with as he provided a sublime assist to Lan Hyou for the Cat's second goal.

Onyango continued to impress throughout the game. His work rate, positivity in possession, and willingness to get stuck make him an extremely effective defender.

A moment after the game, Onyango was singing with the club's supporters, who have shown their love for him from the word go.

With his maiden appearance successful and now behind him, the Kenyan will seek to play more matches for the Taiwanese side.

Onyango was confirmed as Leopard Cat player this season after signing for the top-flight side at an undisclosed fee.

Apart from Kibera Black Stars, the defender played for KCB, FC Talanta, and the now-defunct Ushuru FC.

Leopard Cat are placed third on the Taiwan Football Premier League table with six points from two matches played this season.

The defender has yet to play for the Harambee Stars but can do so if he is called up.
