The former Gor Mahia assistant coach is not happy with his charges despite beating Mathare United 1-0.

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Patrick Odhiambo was unimpressed with the way his team played against Mathare United in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clash on Sunday.

Abana Abeingo laboured to a 1-0 win against relegation-threatened Mathare in a match played at Bukhungu Stadium.

The former Gor Mahia assistant coach was unimpressed by all departments during Sunday's victory.

"The personality of the team was something I couldn't recognize, we were losing the balls easily in major areas, and then I still fault my strikers for not taking their chances.

"We want to always provoke the next line to defend the ball but we couldn't get that today, also maybe because of the defensive organization and the discipline of our opponent," he said.

Odhiambo noted that the opponent could have found an equalizer which he blames his charges for not being effective as most of the time, they could regain possession or switch to a defensive shape on time.

"We gave a lot of opportunities away and we don't want to be a team that gives the opponent a lot of chances but we did that today and it had to do with how we used the ball, how we structured when we had possession," he continued.

Brian Munyendo earned the lone goal in a dominant first half, and the visitors were lucky not to concede more in the subsequent half.

Homeboyz are now in the eighth position with 45 points that have come from the 32 matches they have played.

Abana Abeingo will next face Gor Mahia away at Nyayo Stadium before welcoming Bidco United in their last match of the season.
