Why Chelsea may ditch Jadon Sancho's permanent transfer despite fulfilling conditions.
Chelsea's recent victory against Fulham has activated their obligation to buy Jadon Sancho from Manchester United for £25 million as part of the loan terms established last summer.
The acquisition is dependent on Chelsea finishing higher than 15th in the league, which they have now achieved.

Why Chelsea may not buy Sancho
Despite this obligation, a report indicates that Chelsea could opt out of the permanent transfer by paying a £5 million penalty fee to Manchester United.
The clause provides the club with some leeway regarding Sancho’s future at Stamford Bridge.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea are also looking to enhance their winger options due to concerns about Mykhailo Mudryk’s status.
They have already secured deals for two young wingers: Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP, who will arrive in 2026, and Brazilian talent Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, who is set to join this summer.
Jadon Sancho stats
Sancho has made 27 Premier League appearances for Chelsea this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists, along with five assists in the Europa Conference League.
Although he did not start against Fulham, he came on as a substitute. After the match, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca stated his priorities lie in the remaining league matches.

However, the Italian manager acknowledged that while Sancho's performance could improve, the overall focus remains on team development.
Chelsea are not under immediate pressure to conclude the Englishman’s permanent transfer, but a decision is expected once the season wraps up.
