FKFPL "Gor Mahia's game will be like training and we'll still beat them" - Homeboyz CEO Shimanyula

Homeboyz can change their destiny, as well as the title race involving Gor Mahia and Tusker with a win against K'Ogalo.

Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has ridiculed the threat of Gor Mahia, claiming that his side will use the game as a warm up for the FKF Cup final clash against Tusker FC scheduled to take place on Saturday 1 july.

Homeboyz will be facing K’Ogalo in the penultimate game of the season at the Nyayo Stadium from 3:00 PM on Wednesday 21 June.

The Patrick Odhiambo-coached outfit , who have been rather underwhelming in the league, sit eighth but have a golden chance to win their maiden major trophy while qualifying for next season’s CAF Confederations Cup.

That scenario could still change if they beat Gor Mahia and Tusker win their remaining league matches to give them a chance of qualifying for continental football without even kicking a ball in the FKF Cup final.

"We will beat Gor Mahia in our next match. We are not interested in whether they will win the league or not. We will play that game like a final and show our true potential in the league.

"We shall also take it as a training game ahead of the 2022/23 FKF Cup final match against Tusker FC, " a bullish Shimanyula told Nation Sport.

Gor Mahia returned to the top of the table following a resounding 2-0 win over Ulinzi Stars in a match that saw the Johnathan McKinstry-coaches side display some swash-buckling pass-and-move football that wowed fans and neutrals alike.

Homeboyz are currently eighth in the league on 45 points, winning 12, drawing nine and losing 11 of their 32 matches. A win for them will put them in seventh place over Ingo Derby rivals AFC Leopards.

A win for Gor Mahia will give them the chance to consolidate their lead at the top of the table, shaping the nature of the title race fully in their destiny with one match remaining.
