Former Manchester United star has hailed Arsenal fans for their selfless inspiration during the Gunners' victory over Real Madrid.

Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney has lauded the Arsenal supporters for the pivotal role they played in their team's sensational 3-0 thrashing of Champions League holders Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

In a dominant first-leg performance at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal stunned the football world with two breathtaking free-kicks from Declan Rice and a composed finish from Mikel Merino to secure a commanding victory.

Rice also etched recorded his name in Champions League history by becoming the first player to score two direct free-kicks in a knockout stage match.
