Kibet's journey to Spain began in earnest in August 2023 during the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports national championships held in Kakamega County.

Representing St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale, Kibet netted seven goals throughout the tournament — including a brace in the final, earning him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

His outstanding display caught the attention of scouts and academies, paving the way for his September 2023 move to Nastic Academy.

His talent continued to shine on the international stage during the 2024 Cecafa U20 qualifiers in Tanzania.

Kibet scored five goals, helping Kenya’s Rising Stars secure a second-place finish and qualify for the 2025 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Though he did not find the net during the AFCON tournament in Egypt, Kibet still made his presence felt with flashes of brilliance and maturity beyond his years.

According to Nation Sports Kibet’s father, Christopher Komen, confirmed on Monday night that both he and his son were in Vigo to finalize the transfer.

While the transfer fee remains unofficial, the excitement surrounding Kibet’s future is palpable.

Celta Vigo, who finished seventh in the 2024/25 La Liga season with 55 points, will be hoping that the young Kenyan adds flair and creativity to their midfield.

Kibet now has the opportunity to grow within one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.

His move also marks another milestone for Kenyan football, as he joins a growing list of players who have earned opportunities abroad through local development systems and school competitions.

If his journey continues on this upward trajectory, Aldrine Kibet could well become a mainstay in both European football and the Kenyan national team setup.
