Tottenham lost to relegation-threatening Bournemouth on Saturday and was unable to take the opportunity presented to them by Newcastle earlier in the day.

Bournemouth moved slightly out of the relegation zone with a 3-2 victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which also prevented Tottenham from passing Newcastle United for the final Champions League spot.

After yesterday's loss, Jermaine Jenas was analysing another subpar Spurs performance and singled out defenders Cristian Romero and Pedro Porro as the culprits.

Tottenham failed to take advantage of Newcastle slip

Tottenham needed to find a way to win yesterday to keep their Champions League dreams alive after Newcastle opened the door for them earlier in the day with a 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

A struggling Bournemouth team occasionally outplayed Cristian Stellini's side, which appeared to be without ideas. If the Cherries stay in the Premier League at the end of the season, they will look back to this win that earned them a valuable three points.

Tottenham's play has gotten worse recently, and they run the risk of not playing in Europe next year.

Jenas disappointed with Tottenham's defenders

Yesterday, Jenas was very dissatisfied with Cristian Romero and Pedro Porro's performance. Both teams played carelessly in the game's closing moments, and Bournemouth ultimately snatched all three points.

Analysing the game on Match of the Day, Jenas said: “I think players were starting to hide in the game, and from a point of view where they just don’t have a plan of how-to build-up play and play through the lines.”

Jenas continued, “It’s shambolic defending. Dier should come out and press. I can’t understand why Cristian Stellini has come into this job to play exactly the same way as Antonio Conte has played.”

Yesterday, Tottenham's performance wasn't good enough and Cristian Stellini must find a way to rally his team before this season ends in utter failure.

Meanwhile, Chelsea fans on social media have given up on their club after another dismal display in the Premier League.
