Tusker FC striker Ryan Ogam has lifted the lid on the impact of his failed transfer to Algeria, having come close to a big-money move to USM Alger in January.
Tusker forward Ryan Ogam has shared how his failed move to Algeria had an impact on his form at the FKF Premier League club.
Ogam was on the verge of joining Algerian club USM Alger in the January transfer window, six months after joining Tusker, with the North African reportedly club willing to buy out the rest of his contract.
There was a big deal on the table for Ogam, who was the leading scorer in the FKF Premier League at the time, but an agreement was not reached and he ended up staying in Kenya when he had hoped to move.

“At that time, there are some things that maybe didn’t happen as I had wanted and we couldn’t agree on terms with the club and of course yeah it affected me some bit,” Ogam told Telecomasia.net over how the failed transfer affected him.

Arsenal Target Gyokeres Breaks Silence on Transfer Speculation

How Did the Striker Cope with The Failed Transfer?
)
“It bothered me because at times, I thought I had landed a good deal but then circumstances prevented me and I would be discouraged at some point.”
Ogam is thankful that he had a great support system which encouraged him to stay focused on the job, even after the missed opportunity, although he admits his form was affected and he could not produce top performances as before.
“In life, and in football, everything has a positive side and a negative side. If you choose to focus on the negative, then things will be difficult for you,” he added over how he overcame the setback.
“I just want to thank my parents, my advisors and my management because they really motivated me and encouraged me that even though these had gone, there will be more opportunities coming up and they urged me to focus and work hard to attract more. I just decided to not focus on what had not worked out but look at the future.”

Ryan Ogam: Back After Four-Month Injury Layoff, Tusker Striker Still Keen to Claim Golden Boot
Tusker striker Ryan Ogam still has eyes on the FKF Premier League Golden Boot award despite missing four months of action following an injury.
Ogam Disappointed that Injury Cut Short 30-Goal Target

The striker would, however, suffer another setback when he sustained an injury that needed surgery, staying out of action for four months with Tusker faltering in the title race in his absence.
He has now returned just in time for Tusker’s final two games of the season and hopes to play a part and perhaps add onto his 15 league goals, which sees him trail FC Talanta’s Emmanuel Osoro by one and Kakamega Homeboyz forward Moses Shumah by two, in the Golden Boot race.
“At the start of the season, I had set a target of scoring 30 goals but then it was cut short. It was really difficult for me. I was watching all our games and it was really painful to see that you could do something for the team to get wins and points but then it is impossible,” said Ogam, speaking about missed targets after the injury.
“I had already scored 15 goals and I wanted to push more in the second leg and achieve more but it was unfortunate I couldn’t. But now, I am back with two matches to go and if the coaches give me a chance, I hope that I can achieve something even with a few minutes. I will try and push and see what comes.”
