FKF Begins Clearing Referee Dues Across Multiple Leagues in Push for Professionalism

FKF has already began the process of settling referee dues following months of going without pay.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed that it has begun disbursing payments to referees across various tiers of Kenyan football, a significant step towards restoring trust and integrity in officiating.

In a statement released on Tuesday, May 14, FKF disclosed that payments for match officials in the FKF Premier League, National Super League, Women’s Premier League, Women’s National Super League, and the FKF Cup are currently being processed, with several rounds already fully settled.

According to the federation, Referees in the FKF Premier League have been paid for Rounds 12 to 18.

The National Super League (NSL) has seen payments cleared for Rounds 13 to 22. In the Women’s Premier League (WPL), match officials for Rounds 11 to 14 and 16 to 20 have received their dues.

The Women’s National Super League (WNSL) has seen payments made for Rounds 12 to 14.

The FKF Cup match officials have been fully paid for all rounds.

The Federation noted that pending claims from other rounds are being processed based on verified documentation.

FKF General Secretary Harold Ndege explained the importance of referee welfare in a statement, saying:

“Referees are the backbone of fair play, and their welfare is a top priority for my administration,” Ndege said.

“Under my leadership, we’ve begun settling dues for officials across the FKF Premier League, National Super League, Women’s Premier League, and Women’s National Super League. 

“Verified claims continue to be processed. We are committed to restoring dignity, professionalism, and accountability in officiating at every level of Kenyan football.”

Ndege further stressed FKF’s commitment to timely payments and improved working conditions for all match officials across the country, signaling a renewed focus on restoring credibility and order within Kenya’s football administration.

FKF Premier League: Main referees earn KSh 14,000 per match following a 2024 pay increase from KSh 7,000.

National Super League (NSL): Center referees receive KSh 4,500, while assistant referees earn KSh 3,000 per match.
