Football Kenya Federation's 'Football for Schools' program equips youth with skills, distributes equipment, and promotes coaching, reshaping the nation's football future.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has ushered in a new era for Kenyan football with 27 coaches officially earning their CAF C licenses in a graduation ceremony held on Friday, October 27, 2023, in Buruburu.

The licenses are an integral part of FKF's 'Football for Schools' program, launched in July, which resonates with the federation's primary objectives of bolstering Youth and Women’s Football.

Victor Odhiambo Akumu, a teacher at Nyargondo Secondary School, stood out as a shining example of the positive impact of these initiatives.

“I ventured into coaching to create a conducive learning environment for school children to acquire comprehensive football knowledge and skills. This approach ensures that they learn the game with less fear of failure and greater enjoyment. They can skillfully play football, which will be beneficial in the long run,” coach Victor shared, reflecting the sentiment of many beneficiaries.

Dickson Doyo, the FKF Nairobi East Secretary General, shed light on why FKF is investing heavily in coaching education.

“We have numerous teams in Kenya, and with these teams come a multitude of coaches who are continuously seeking knowledge and skills to elevate the quality of football in the country. This drive motivates the federation to continue offering these courses, which enable coaches to gain the necessary skills and knowledge for personal growth and the overall improvement of football,” Doyo passionately stated.

The month-long rigorous coaching course that culminated in this significant graduation was meticulously overseen by esteemed CAF/FKF instructors, Zedekiah Otieno and Salim Ali.

Their expertise and dedication ensured that the coaches were equipped with contemporary football techniques, strategies, and skills.

Further strengthening this commitment, FKF has announced its plans to distribute footballs and essential equipment to chosen schools all over the nation.
