The Blues were unstoppable as Cole Palmer scored twice to lead Chelsea to a dominant 3-0 FIFA Club World Cup triumph.

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer carved his name into the club’s storied history books on Sunday with a brilliant brace that inspired a commanding 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup final.

In front of a raucous crowd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Palmer delivered the kind of performance that cements legends and adds another trophy to the Blues’ growing collection.

The 23-year-old wasted no time seizing the occasion, scoring two almost identical goals just eight minutes apart midway through the first half.

Both finishes showcased his trademark composure and instinct in the box, qualities that have turned him into one of Chelsea’s most dependable attacking forces since his move from Manchester City.

The celebrations were just as memorable. In the searing New Jersey heat, Palmer coolly unveiled his signature “cold” celebration, arms outstretched as thousands of traveling Chelsea supporters erupted in delight.

It was a moment of release and affirmation for fans who had been waiting since 2021 to see their team crowned Club World Cup champions again.

Palmer’s heroics came against a PSG side that many had tipped as favorites after a dominant tournament run.

The French giants had suffered only a single defeat before the final—a tight 1-0 loss to Botafogo—but by halftime on Sunday, they were staring at a mountain they could not climb.

While Palmer stole the spotlight, new signing João Pedro also made his mark.

Making only his second start since transferring from Brighton and Hove Albion, the Brazilian striker rifled home Chelsea’s third goal in the 43rd minute, effectively ending the contest before the break.

The halftime show then delivered its own unexpected twist when British rock band Coldplay took the stage for a surprise performance alongside J Balvin, Doja Cat, Tems, and Emmanuel Kelly.

Despite the match’s explosive opening, the second half settled into a more measured rhythm, with Chelsea content to control possession and protect their lead.

PSG’s frustration grew as the minutes ticked away, culminating in João Neves’ sending-off after he was caught pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair.

After the final whistle, Chelsea players emerged wearing commemorative kits emblazoned with “World Champions” and the number 25.

The squad flooded the pitch to celebrate their second trophy of the season, having already claimed the UEFA Conference League title in May with a 4-1 win over Real Betis.

Palmer, who ended the campaign with an impressive tally of 18 goals, was later awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.

Reflecting on the triumph, he was quick to credit manager Enzo Maresca for masterminding the victory.

“The gaffer put a great game plan out,” Palmer told FIFA after the game.

“He knew where there would space and tried to free me up as much as possible. I just had to repay him and score some goals. He [Maresca] is building something special. I feel we’re going in the right direction.“

Maresca, in turn, praised his squad for delivering a performance worthy of champions.

“I have no words for the players,” Maresca said.

“For me, we won the game in the first ten minutes. We set the tempo, we knew the way we wanted to play. Today we found a position for Cole [Palmer] where there was more space to attack. The effort from all the players has been fantastic.”
