CAF Issues Final Verdict After Inspecting Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania Facilities for CHAN 2024

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has concluded a highly successful eight-day inspection tour of host venues ahead of the eagerly anticipated CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from 2 to 30 August 2025 across three East African nations—Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The final round of venue inspections and workshops began on Thursday, 3 July, in Nairobi, Kenya, where CAF’s high-level delegation conducted detailed assessments of the capital’s premier football arenas.

Kasarani Stadium, which will host the final match of the championship, and the historic Nyayo Stadium were both meticulously reviewed to ensure they meet CAF’s stringent international standards for infrastructure, safety, and broadcast readiness.

The CAF delegation included functional leads representing critical departments such as Competitions, Marketing, Media, Broadcast, Safety & Security, and Infrastructure.

“Our teams were impressed by the commitment demonstrated by the Local Organising Committees and government stakeholders. The improvements and preparations in these venues are clear, and the passion for football in East Africa is palpable,” said a CAF spokesperson during the Nairobi leg of the inspections.

After completing the reviews in Kenya, the delegation travelled to Zanzibar to inspect the Amaan Stadium, which has undergone major renovations to meet international requirements.

The inspectors then proceeded to Dar Es Salaam, where the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium—set to host the tournament’s opening ceremony—was put under close scrutiny.

CAF officials praised the Tanzanian authorities for their collaboration and proactive approach. From pitch quality and dressing rooms to security infrastructure and media facilities, each detail was carefully evaluated to ensure the stadiums will deliver a world-class experience for players and fans alike.

On Thursday, 9 July, the final inspections wrapped up in Kampala, Uganda, at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.

The Ugandan authorities showcased the readiness of their facilities, demonstrating significant upgrades across seating, floodlighting, and broadcast areas.

“The comprehensive inspection mission has been instrumental in aligning all host cities with CAF’s operational requirements. We are satisfied with the progress and the commitment shown by all three nations,” said a member of CAF’s Infrastructure team.

The tour not only assessed stadium readiness but also included workshops on match operations, ticketing, security protocols, and broadcast arrangements.

CAF underscored that these final site visits were a critical milestone to verify that every logistical detail is in place before the continent’s top home-based footballers converge in East Africa.

In the coming weeks, final operational checks and rehearsals will continue in all venues to ensure seamless execution.

The 2025 CHAN is set to be one of the most memorable editions in tournament history, spotlighting East Africa’s capacity to stage a competition of continental magnitude.
