Fans have taken to social media to troll Harry Maguire as Scotland's best striker following his own goal at Hampden Park.

England secured a 3-1 victory over Scotland during an International friendly match played at Hampden Park.

During the second half of their 3-1 victory over Scotland on Tuesday, Maguire took Marc Guehi's place.

However, with the game at 2-0, Maguire committed an own goal to give Scotland a chance to get back in the game but the Three Lions ended the game comfortably.

Fans have then gone to name the Man United defender Scotland's best striker after the own-goal incident.

Fans reaction to Maguire’s own goal

Following his substitution for the Three Lions, the England defender was booed each time he touched the ball.

Then, to make matters worse, he accidentally put Scotland back in the game by diverting Andrew Robertson's cross past Aaron Ramsdale and into his own goal.

One supporter tweeted in response to the own goal as reported by the Sun, "Scotland has 0 shots on target. The power of Harry Maguire."

Another said, "Harry Maguire has probably had more shots on the England goal than Scotland have."

A third also jokes, "Scotland's best striker is Harry Maguire."

Another supporter added, "A Harry Maguire's own goal was inevitable."

Thankfully for Maguire, just 14 minutes later, Harry Kane gave England a two-goal advantage to win the game.
