Bukayo Saka found himself in the middle of criticism from fans after breaking the grid walk etiquette at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Bukayo Saka's brief and somewhat awkward interview on the grid walk at the Spanish Grand Prix has stirred a discussion on social media.

While fellow footballer Harry Kane enthusiastically shared his Formula One knowledge and predictions with Sky Sports, Bukayo Saka remained reserved in his response, something that has forced fans to go after him.

When approached by Sky Sports presenter Simon Lazenby and asked who he was supporting, the Arsenal star simply replied, "Not much to say."

Even after Lazenby echoed the comment back to him, Bukayo Saka offered no further response and could only afford to shake his head as the reporter moved on.

Moments before, the Arsenal and England star had been signing autographs for young fans and seemed caught off guard by the impromptu interview.

His response led to some online criticism, with some fans labelling him 'arrogant' and suggesting he was breaking an unspoken rule of the grid walk by refusing to engage.

Some fans contrasted Saka's behaviour with that of Harry Kane's, praising the latter's polite and enthusiastic interaction. One commenter noted that even former F1 driver Nico Rosberg remarked on Saka's lack of friendliness.

Others mentioned Newcastle United defender Dan Burn, also present at the event, as another example of a footballer who handled the grid walk interview well.

"If saka was a F1 fan he would know that people on the grid get interviewed and if you snub you look an arrogant celeb who shouldn't be there," one fan commented.

"Harry Kane, nice and polite and great chat with sky on the grid walk for the GP. Then they go to Saka and he doesn't want to talk, just says 'got nothing to say'. Attitude or what," another fan added.

"Dan Burn and Harry Kane both good sports being interviewed on the grid walk. Saka waved them off and Nico Rosberg said he wasn't very friendly," a third fan shared.

However, many defended Saka, arguing that he was within his rights to decline an interview, particularly if he was not a knowledgeable F1 fan.

Some suggested that, unlike Harry Kane, Saka might have been attending the race more as a casual observer than a dedicated follower of the sport. Another supporter pointed out that Saka's primary profession is football, not media appearances.

"Don't think there's anything wrong with this. What happens is there's players who are genuine F1 fans, like Harry Kane and Trent. When Sky interview them at races they talk a lot, enjoy the sport. Then guys like Saka are using F1 for a holiday, like 90 per cent of celebs at NBA games," one user said.

"Would you guys want random people to come up to you with a microphone and a big camera without asking? I know I wouldn’t. His job is to play football. Not be in media," the fan noted.

This is not the first time a celebrity's reservation on the F1 grid walk has drawn attention, highlighting the sometimes tricky intersection of sports and celebrity culture.
