Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has thrown his weight behind superstar winger Vinicius Junior staying with Los Blancos despite the recent incidents around racism in LaLiga

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Brazilian star Vinicius Junior will stay at the club despite being embroiled in an ongoing battle against racism in LaLiga

Vinicius’ struggles open door to Real Madrid exit

Vinicius has suffered abuse in a string of incidents across various LaLiga matches this season, with the 22-year-old finally reaching a breaking point in Real Madrid’s 1-0 loss to Valencia, where he asked for the game to be halted.

The response to the latest incident involving Vinicius has been mostly supportive, except for LaLiga president Javier Tebas, who left a scathing reply to the Brazilian’s tweet where he branded the league as enablers of racism.

The back and forth between Neymar and Tebas, as well as the Brazilian’s belief that the league was not doing enough to protect him, have led to rumours that Vinicius could leave Real Madrid.

Still, Ancelotti has poured cold water on those rumours claiming that the winger had no intention of leaving.

Vinicius’ contract expires in 2024, the same as Ancelotti, and the Italian manager has reiterated that they will both be at Real Madrid until then, despite increased interest in the Brazilian forward recently.

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid's tie against Rayo Vallecano, Ancelotti said, “He knows very well that his future has to be here and the fact of leaving is not in his head. He feels that he wants to work for Real Madrid because he is in love with the club.”

Due to the current situation involving Vinicius and LaLiga, clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United have been on high alert as regards the winger’s availability and could force Real Madrid into selling if they convince the Brazilian to make the move.

The 2023 Summer window will represent the last window where the Spanish giants can command a reasonable transfer fee for Vinicius, and could be tempted to sell him if he decides he wants to leave.
