FKFPL AFC Leopards identify potential Aussems’ successor

The local heavyweights are preparing to have an immediate coach should they eventually part ways with Aussems.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side AFC Leopards will reportedly appoint Melis Medo should they part with Patrick Aussems.

Reports emerging from the Den claim Medo is a prime candidate to take over the local heavyweights, who will finish the season without a trophy.

Medo is currently in charge of Tanzania Mainland Premier League side Dodoma Jiji, who finished in 13th place in the just concluded season.

Medo’s reign with the Tanzanian club was certainly not impressive, as he managed to register nine wins, four draws, and lost 15 games.

Aussems has been in charge of AFC Leopards since February 2021, when he was appointed to replace Thomas Trucha. Trucha left the Kenyan giants - after a short stint - claiming some officials were interfering with his work.

The Leopards-Aussems association has not been particularly successful, as there is no trophy to celebrate yet at the Den.

They were close to ending the current campaign with a trophy but slipped at the penultimate stage when they lost to Kakamega Homeboyz in the FKF Cup.

Their league campaign suffered a big blow when three points were ducked following chaos that erupted at Bukhungu Stadium on April 16 in a match against Homeboyz.

Should Medo accept an appointment by Leopards, it would be his fourth stint in charge of a Kenyan club.

He was previously in charge of Sofapaka, Wazito and Nakumatt FC when the Nairobi-based outfit used to participate in the Premier League.
