AFC Leopards defender Kennedy Owino has described his excitement at the imminent meeting between his current side and former employers Posta Rangers on Sunday.

AFC Leopards defender Kennedy Owino is itching for the meeting against his former side Posta Rangers.

Leopards will face Posta Rangers in their FKF Premier League match at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday 14, April in what will be the first time Owino will take on his former employers since ditching the mailmen in the mid-season transfer window.

Owino was involved in a long-drawn transfer saga before the two teams reached an agreement and has slotted in well at Leopards, featuring in their last five matches, a period in which Ingwe have conceded just twice while scoring seven times.

However, Leopards have gone two games without a win and take on a Rangers side that have lost their last four matches, which saw coach John Kamau relieved of his duties, but for Owino, it will be an opportunity to show them what they are missing as his side seek to add onto their woes.

“My stay at the Den has been great and I’m really enjoying life here. I have made many new friends in the team as well as fans. The reception was marvelous and it really helped me to settle down quickly. I am happy we’re one big family,” Owino said, as per the club’s website.

“I am ready and focused for the match. Of course, we had built a good relationship with Rangers players, but on Sunday it will be a battle for maximum points. I’m thinking of how we are going to play as a team and bounce back to winning ways. I just can’t wait to play against them as an opponent,” he added.

Leopards conceded one of the quickest Premier League goals, when they went down 1-0 inside 26 seconds of last week’s encounter against Sofapaka, before recovering to secure a 1-1 draw, but wasted a number of chances to collect maximum points.

That came after losing their first game of the year, a 1-0 reverse to Tusker just before the international break, and they cannot ill afford another negative result.

Owino is confident of a positive outing against his former side with victory set to put them within one point of fifth-placed Posta Rangers.

“Despite some climatic challenges we have had good preparations. The boys have really put in some good work, and we’re looking forward to the game on Sunday,” said Owino.

“We appreciate our fans’ support because without them, we wouldn’t be where we are now. I personally take this opportunity to welcome all of them in Machakos on Sunday. We won’t let them down.”
