Omanyala will enjoy the company of compatriot Samwel Imeta

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala will be lining up against a strong field in today’s, April 12 ASA Grand Prix at the Tuks Stadium at 8:55 p.m. East African Time.

All the action is set to be live streamed on Supersport Variety 4 channel 209 on DSTV. The men’s senior 100m race will be last event of the day.

The Commonwealth Games 100m champion will enjoy the company of Samwel Imeta who will also be eyeing top honours in the race. Omanyala and Imeta have personal best times of 9.77 and 10.12 respectively.

The duo will be up against Botswana’s Van Wyk Tumo who has a PB of 10.44. The race will be Tumo’s first 100m race since the 2023 season started. Johnson Cheswil who will be competing on home soil will also be looking to impress. He has a PB of 10.18.

Namibia’s Gilbert Hainuca who has a PB of 10.16 will also be kickstarting his outdoor season at the event.

Others in the race include Roberts Rivaldo, Richardson Benjamin and Kuali Duke, all from South Africa.

Another Kenyan who will be competing is Wiseman Were in the 400m Hurdles men’s race at 7:05 p.m EAT. Damaris Nduleve (400m women’s race at 8:35 p.m EAT) and Collins Omae (400m men’s race at 8:45 p.m. EAT) will also be in action at the event.
