Emmanuel Wanyonyi made it clear that he is still the man to beat when he clocked a world leading time as he won the 800m race at Stockholm Diamond League.

Emmanuel Wanyonyi showed that he is still in good form when she stormed to a world lead at the Stockholm Diamond League in Sweden on Sunday.

Wanyonyi ran a dominant 800m race in a strong field to win the race in 1:41.95 to improve on his time in Oslo on Thursday.

The Olympics champion had won the race in Oslo in 1:42.78 but improved his time to become the first runner to clock a sub-1:42 this season.

It was the fifth sub-1:42 in his career and to show just how remarkable he has been, only world record holder the legendary David Rudisha has done it more, after dipping under 1:42 seven times.

Wanyonyi has been improving since his third-place finish in Rabat last month which was his first 800m race since a second place at Grand Slam Track in Kingston, Jamaica in April.

His performance suggests he is in good shape with close to three months to go before the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan in September.
