Mary Moraa has broken her silence following her second-place finish in the women’s 800m at the Diamond League Meeting in Stockholm.
The reigning world 800m champion entered the race a huge favourite to win but could not live up to the billing following her second-place finish behind Great Britain’s Georgia Bell.
Mary Moraa looked comfortable during the race until the final stages, when Georgia Bell surprisingly chased her down the home straight and eventually took the win in 1:57.66.

The Olympic 800m bronze medallist signed up for the Grand Slam Track and had to commit to racing two disciplines, the 800m and 1500m in each Slam.
Moraa pointed out that she was also in action at the Kenya Police Championships before heading out for the Diamond League, a move that slowed her down a bit.

Mary Moraa started her season at the Grand Slam Track debut in Kingston, Jamaica and could only compete in the women’s 800m, where she finished a distant eighth.
The reigning Commonwealth Games champion then competed at the 5th AK Track & Field Weekend Meeting/Relay Series before heading to the Grand Slam Track Miami.
Competing at the Ansin Sports Complex, Mary Moraa won the 800m before later finishing eighth in the 1500m.
She was hoping for a bounce back at the Grand Slam Track Philadelphia but could only manage a seventh-place finish in the 1500m and fifth place in the 800m.
Mary Moraa’s main target will be to defend her world title in Tokyo, Japan, in September, and she is putting in the work to ensure she is ready by then.
