Sabastian Sawe has dusted himself off after a disappointing performance at the World Cross Country Championships and announced where he will be competing next.
World Half Marathon champion Sabastian Sawe went into the World Cross Country Championships as one of the strong athletes that Kenya was banking on to deliver a medal but he failed to impress.
Sawe could only manage a seventh-place finish at the star-studded event held in Belgrade, Serbia on Saturday. However, he will not remain down forever and he has since dusted himself and will be competing at the Prague Half Marathon.
Sawe will be among the 15,000 runners who will descend on the course with the hope of shattering the course record of 58:47 held by Atsedu Tsegay of Ethiopia.

Sawe will be up against the likes of Geoffrey Toroitich and Patrick Mosin of Kenya, both of whom have run inside 60 minutes in the past. The Ethiopian charge will be led by Haftamu Gebresilase who hopes to retain the course record.
Others going for the top prize include Maxwell Rotich of Uganda and Gideon Rop with Moroccans Yakoub Labquira and Ahmed El Jaddar also set for the challenge.
Meanwhile, the women’s field will see the likes of Jesca Chelangat and Vivian Jepkemei Melly of Kenya team up to shatter the course record 64:52 by Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya.

Beatrice Chebet and Jacob Kiplimo will certainly be smiling to the bank following their dominant exploits at the World Cross Country championships that saw them win back-to-back titles.
They will face tough opposition from the likes of Anchinalu Dessie Genaneh of Ethiopia, Sultan Haydar of Turkey, Jennifer Gulikers of the Netherlands and Tereza Hrochová of the Czech Republic.
“Every year, star endurance athletes come to Prague, but this year, it is an absolute running extravaganza. We are very pleased and believe that Sawe’s performance will be one of the highlights of this year’s event,” said Carlo Capalbo, president of the RunCzech organising committee, as per Athletics Weekly.
