The Athletics fraternity, and in particular, the family of Moses Tanui has been thrown into mourning after the tragic loss of his son, Job Kiptoo in Ontario, Canada.

As reported by Nation Sport, the late Kiptoo was a student at Mohawk College in Hamilton and has been there for two years. He reportedly fell ill and collapsed before being rushed to the hospital where he lost his life.

His uncle Silas Tanui explained that his nephew was feeling unwell and he had informed his landlord. He was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away on the way there.

He expressed grief towards losing the young and vibrant man who had so much to achieve. “It’s said that we have lost a young vibrant hardworking man who had a bright future and we pray that God may give us strength even as we plan on how to repatriate his body for the final rights back in Kenya,” he told Nation Sport.

Meanwhile, Kiptoo was the third-born child to Tanui and burial arrangements are ongoing and will be communicated in due courses as they await postmortem results.

On his part, Tanui made a name for himself when he bagged the 10,000m title at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo and a silver medal at the World Cross-country Championships the same year.
