The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon offers hefty prize money for athletes who do exemplary well.

The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon comes up this Sunday, October 29 with millions up for grabs for the top 10 finishers in the 42km distance, top three finishers in the 21km and wheelchair race, top three finishers in the 10km road race, and winners of the Corporate Relay team.

A total cash boon of Ksh 10, 600, 000 has been set aside for the athletes who do exemplary well. The winners of the marathon, both male and female, will walk away with Ksh 2 million while the second and third-place finishers will pocket Ksh 750,000 and Ksh 500,000 respectively.

The athletes who finish fourth, fifth, and sixth will bag Ksh 150, 000, Ksh 100, 000 and Ksh 50, 000 respectively.

The seventh, eighth, and ninth-place finishers will bag Ksh 40, 000, Ksh 30, 000 and Ksh 20, 000. The athletes who finish 10th will walk away with Ksh 10, 000.

In the half marathon and 21km wheelchair race, the athletes who win the race will bag Ksh 300, 000 while the athletes who finish second and third will walk away with Ksh 150, 000 and Ksh 100, 000.

In the 10km, the winners of the race, both the male and female, will walk away with Ksh 200, 000 each. The second and third-place finishers will pocket Ksh 150, 000 and Ksh 1100, 000.

In the corporate relay team, the winners will walk away with Ksh 100, 000 while the winners of the people with disabilities category will walk away with the same amount.
