The Standard Chartered Bank has signed a five-year partnership deal with Athletics Kenya till 2027 to deliver the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.
The partnership will have the athletics body assist with the efficient running and coordination of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.

The program resembles the newly introduced education system- Competency-based Curriculum which enables children to identify their talents at an early age.
AK has been a vital channel in linking athletes to the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon since 2003, helping to launch athletic careers. Further, the association has helped to design the race specificities including timings, running tracks, and athlete welfare checks.
Athletics Kenya President, Lt Gen (Rtd) Jackson Tuwei was proud to be associated with the initiative that has been vital in nurturing sporting talent and has been a blueprint for inclusive and sustainable marathons in the country.
“As we extend our partnership with the marathon, we are excited to continue working with the organizing committee to deliver a top-notch and unmatched race event experience and are excited to see more athletic careers launched and nurtured through the marathon,” Tuwei said.
On his part, the Chairman of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon Local Organizing Committee Peter Gitau said: “The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon has provided a stage for national and international athlete stardom. This has only been achieved through the support of our partners, key among them, Athletics Kenya.’’
Over the last 19 years, the Standard Chartered Marathon has provided a platform for Kenya’s elite athletes to launch into international scenes.
Renown marathoners like Dennis Kimetto, Irene Jerotich, Chemutai Rionotukei, Fridah Chepkite Lodepa, Elisha Kiprop, and many others, have either launched or honed their marathon careers through this event.

ATHLETICS Wycliffe Kinyamal reveals next stop after fruitful Kip Keino Classic
Kinyamal started off his season at the second Athletics Kenya meet.
This year, the marathon is targeting to register 25,000 runners and will be held on Sunday, October 29 at the Southern Bypass with Uhuru Gardens as the marathon venue while the satellite marathons will be held from Sunday, October 22 to Sunday, October 29.
The event will feature seven race categories including 42km, 21km, 21km wheelchair, 10km, 10 KM CEO challenge, 5km Family Fun Run race, and the Corporate Relay Challenge.

AK President hinted at confirmation of the same in 2024.
The registration portal is now open on the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon at a fee of Ksh2000. Individual and corporate participants are encouraged to register early.
