Two-time World champion Shericka Jackson has opened up on the impact Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce has made in the sport as she looks to hang her spikes after the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Two-time World 200m champion Shericka Jackson has showered Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce with praises and opened up about the crucial aspect of her career that has impacted numerous athletes.
Jackson, the two-time World 100m silver medallist explained that Fraser-Pryce hanging her spikes after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has been embraced with mixed feelings and she will be dearly missed.
The Jamaican noted that the five-time World champion has touched the lives of many and achieved a lot at her age, 37, where she is still able to run fast times and win medals.

Jackson went down the memory lane and recalled the first time she saw her compatriot competing during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
“The first time I saw Shelly run was in 2008 at the Olympics and she has been amazing since and to be at this age where she is so old and is running so fast after having her son is something inspirational to many especially those who have a baby and want to come back.
“I think that opened their eyes to know that after a baby you still can do it. It might not work for everybody but it definitely worked for her and I think she inspired so many mums that went and had their babies and there are so many who came back and are doing amazing.

“I’ve always watched her run and to be in a race with her cause we were with her at the Olympics, we were with her at the World Championships twice and it’s just something amazing,” Jackson told Athletics Weekly.
Jackson also highlighted that Fraser-Pryce was always that athlete who would show up despite what she was going through in life.
She cited the 2023 World Championships where Fraser-Pryce was suffering from an injury setback and fought hard to secure a bronze medal in the 100m and represented Jamaica in the 4x100m relay team.
