Eliud Kipchoge has revealed why the track and field stadium for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games holds much significance for him as he chases history this year.
Former world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge has gone down memory lane to remember when he first won a senior title and why the track and field stadium for this year’s Olympic Games holds a special place in his heart.
The five-time Berlin Marathon champion won the 5000m title during the 2003 World Championships in Paris, France, on the same stadium that will host this year’s Olympic Games. Kipchoge cut the tape in style, clocking an impressive time of 12:52.79 to finish first in the hotly contested race.

Eliud Kipchoge embroiled in multi-million property dispute alongside other elite athletes
The former world marathon record holder is entangled in a legal dispute over the alleged illegal sale of a matrimonial property in Kenya.
Speaking on his Instagram handle, the four-time London Marathon champion explained how he had visited the stadium a few weeks ago and the memories of him winning the 5000m race 21 years ago are still fresh in his mind.
He also noted that he is preparing for the Olympic Games and training effectively after being named in the final Kenyan squad to the global bonanza.

“A few weeks ago, I visited Stade de France in Paris, the Olympic stadium for @paris2024. This stadium holds great memories for me since I won my first senior title here back in 2003. Paris is preparing for the Olympic Games, so am I. 85 days until the Olympic Marathon,” he said.
Meanwhile, the two-time Olympic marathon champion has already made his intentions clear as he heads to this year’s edition of the Olympics.

Kipchoge disclosed that he will be seeking to make history as the first man to win three Olympic titles over the marathon, and perhaps, at 39, the oldest marathoner to make such a career milestone.
He started his season with a 10th place finish at the Tokyo Marathon, to the surprise of many, but has now gone back to training fully and will be seeking to make a comeback at the Olympics.
