3 track & field events to keep you entertained this weekend

The weekend is coming up and here is a list of three track and field events to keep you entertained and thrilled.

This weekend has a ton of events lined up for track and field fans and all the events will certainly be all about entertaining fans and giving athletes a platform to showcase their talents.

As the Paris 2024 Olympic Games approach, athletes from around the globe are chasing the qualification times and would not afford to meet any qualifying events since they play a crucial role in taking them closer to their destinies.

Two-time World 200m champion Shericka Jackson, World 100m silver medallist Letsile Tebogo and World 800m champion Mary Moraa are among the dozens of athletes who will be in action this weekend in various events.

1) Diamond League Meeting Rabat

The Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco will be happening on Sunday, May 19, having attracted strong fields in different events.

Jackson, the world 100m silver medallist will be opening her 200m campaign at the event with Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the world 800m silver medallist, also competing in his first Diamond League Meeting.

Olympic champions Soufiane El Bakkali and Emmanuel Korir will also be in action this weekend at the Diamond League Meeting. With the quality fields attracted, the event is certainly not one to miss.

2) USTAF Los Angeles Grand Prix

The annual USA Track & Field Los Angeles Grand Prix is a multi-day gold-label event with elite track and field competitions and athletes happening at the Drake Stadium. This year’s event will take place from Friday, May 17 to Saturday, May 18.

The event has attracted star studded fields including youngster Tebogo headlining the men’s 100m race and he shall be going up against Ackeem Blake, Benjamin Azamati, Aaron Brown, and Brandon Carnes among others.

The women’s 100m will see Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith, Twanisha Terry, Melissa Jefferson, and Natasha Morrison lock horns with the women’s 200m having attracted Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone going up against Olympic 200m Favorite Gabby Thomas and Abby Steiner.

Athing Mu and Mary Moraa will clash for the first time this season and the duo will be up against the world's number one Marileidy Paulino.

3) Atlanta City Games

This year's Adidas Atlanta City Games is slated to be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Piedmont Park with the event having attracted some of the greatest sprinters, and remarkable performances are expected.

Triple World champion Noah Lyles, world 110m Hurdles champion Grant Holloway, Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala, and Tamara Davis are among the athletes who will be competing at the event.

Lyles will be joined by his younger brother Josephus Lyles in the 150m, with Great Britain's Zharnel Hughes, the reigning world bronze medallist in the 100m also in the mix. Olympic 400m champions Steven Gardiner and Wayde van Niekerk will face off in the 200m.
