Letsile Tebogo has issued a stark warning to his rivals following his stunning win at the Prefontaine Classic after bouncing back from an injury.

Letsile Tebogo has shared why fans should not be worried about his progress this season following his dominant display at the Prefontaine Classic on Saturday night.

The reigning Olympic 200m champion was in a class of his own as he claimed top honours in the men’s 200m, clocking an impressive 19.76 seconds to cross the finish line.

Letsile Tebogo had been forced to take a short break from competing after encountering an injury at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, something that caused worry among his fans.

However, he has since expressed confidence in his recovery, noting that having missed weeks of training and coming back to claim the win against a strong field at the Prefontaine Classic is enough proof that he is in great shape.

The world 100m silver medallist pointed out that he had a hamstring injury and had to take cautionary steps to avoid hurting himself more, since it was something that had happened before.

Letsile Tebogo added that his team had to manage it better than before, describing the process as a heavy journey that was not easy for him or the team, as he had to rely on them to carry him through to the top.

“For me, it's a great performance. I'm looking at how many weeks I've missed from training. Putting out this kind of performance shows that people should not worry because I lost so many weeks of training to get into recovery and get back into training again,” Letsile Tebogo said in an interview with Citius Mag.

Letsile Tebogo added that initially, he struggled with handling injuries since it was a frustrating experience, and he did not know how to handle it well.

He noted that he has since grown in the sport and become a better athlete, taking injuries as normal occurrences in the sport and learning to deal with them healthily.

Letsile Tebogo further revealed that he has since introduced gym sessions in his training, and his opponents will find it very hard to beat him ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, in September, as he targets a double victory.

“I mean, first off, I used to get frustrated with injuries because it's something that I hate, and every athlete hates that. So, I didn't handle it well before, but now, as you grow, you start to handle stuff much better,” Letsile Tebogo said.

“I mean, I'd say going with the season, I believe I'll be much stronger each and every step of the way, because now we have started introducing the gym. Before, it was just the natural me without gym without anything. So now the gym has started, and I'm happy with how it's going for us.”

Letsile Tebogo’s commanding victory at the Prefontaine Classic is a clear statement that he is back on track and stronger than ever, with his injury behind him and his sights firmly set on World Championship glory in Tokyo.
