Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala is yet to receive the Ksh2 million token of appreciation granted to him by the government after his exploits in the Diamond League.
During an awarding ceremony to double world record holder Faith Kipyegon at State House on June 13, Omanyala was awarded the token while Kipyegon was given Ksh 5 million and a house.

However, speaking in an interview with Look Up TV, Omanyala shared that he is yet to receive the money in his account. He said: “Haijaingia kwa account bado (The money is yet to be deposited in my account).”
Omanyala was awarded the token because of his great exploits over the 100m that have placed Kenya on the world map. So far this year, he has been able to compete in three Diamond League Meetings where he finished third in one and second in two.
He opened his campaign at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco where he completed the podium.

He then competed in Florence, Italy, and Paris, France where he finished second behind world 100m champion Fred Kerley and world 200m champion Noah Lyles respectively. His next Diamond League Meeting will be in Monaco before he heads to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
