Olympic champion Gabby Thomas shut down accusations of dodging rivals like Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Marileidy Paulino.

Olympic champion Gabby Thomas has fired back at a social media user who accused her of avoiding competition with top athletes like Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Marileidy Paulino.

The backlash came after Thomas competed in the Miami leg of the Grand Slam Track series, where she claimed victory in the 200m and finished fourth in the 100m.

Unlike her performance in Kingston, where she contested the 200m and 400m, Thomas opted for the shorter sprints in Miami.

Following the meet, Thomas took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to reflect on her performance.

"What a Slam!!! Moved to the short sprints this time and got a win in my marquee event (200m)…but not quite the overall finish I had hoped for. Heading back to Texas with some things to work on. So so grateful for everyone who continues to support me, and I’m feeling soo good about this season ahead," she wrote.

However, the conversation took a negative turn when an X user criticized her for allegedly hiding her future race schedule.

"After her interview she wanted to keep her schedule in secret as far as what events she will run at future slams. Just another reason to hate track and field. Lack of transparency. We can't even build matchups because the athletes act like cowards and can't keep it 100."

Thomas didn't hold back in her response, writing, "Who are you? Should I block you? You seem weird."

The situation escalated further when she was accused of avoiding races against McLaughlin-Levrone and Paulino. Thomas swiftly addressed the accusation, promising clarity soon.

"I’ll announce which events I’ll be doing soon, relax, patience is a virtue."

Thomas, McLaughlin-Levrone, and Paulino have all been standouts in the ongoing Grand Slam Track series.

Paulino won the 400m and set a national record in the 200m to secure her first Grand Slam title in Miami.

Meanwhile, McLaughlin-Levrone continued her dominance in the 400m and 400m hurdles, clinching back-to-back titles.
