Olympic champion Gabby Thomas has vowed to come back stronger after missing out on hefty payday to Sha'Carri Richardson's training partner Melissa Jefferson-Wooden at Grand Slam Track.

Olympic champion Gabby Thomas has fired a warning shot to rivals following her humbling experience at the hands of track rival Sha'Carri Richardson's training partner, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden.

Thomas got schooled by Jefferson-Wooden, who claimed victory in the women’s 100m at the Miami leg of Grand Slam Track.

Thomas came in fourth, clocking 10.97 seconds, as Jefferson-Wooden claimed victory with 10.75 seconds.

Tamari Davis and Nigeria's Favour Ofili came in second and third, clocking 10.79 and 10.94 respectively.

Despite claiming victory in the 200m, Thomas's showing in the 100m saw her fail to replicate her Kingston leg rank, missing out on the hefty $100,000 cash prize, which went to Jefferson-Wooden.

Following that defeat, Gabby Thomas has reflected on the experience, vowing to come back better and stronger.

“I don’t take losing lightly, so there’s some added motivation, and sometimes you just need that,” said Thomas, as quoted by Essentially Sports.

“I think I’m just a competitor. I think we all are fierce competitors, and we all want to win. My work ethic, I think, is second to none, so that shows, and it showed in the last slam and it’ll show in the next few,” added Thomas.

Her remarks come as she gets into full swing with her campaign, where she is expected to line up against the likes of Jefferson-Wooden and her training partner, Olympic silver medalist Sha'Carri Richardson.

The American sprint queens are tipped to rekindle their rivalry in 2025.

Richardson is the only one among her training partners yet to kick-start her campaign, with Jefferson-Wooden and Twanisha Terry already in full swing.

The trio have a history with Thomas, having lined up together for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics to secure gold in the 4x100m.

As the season unfolds, Thomas' defeat to Jefferson-Wooden will likely spark a fire in her as they line up against each other later on, alongside the likes of Richardson and Terry.
